To Build A Nation (TBAN) is a non-partisan citizens movement focused on promoting the structural, political and electoral reforms that are necessary for fostering a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria. TBAN was convened by Professor Kingsley Moghalu in 2019, after he ran for the Office of The President of Nigeria in the 2019 general elections. There are currently more than 5000 volunteers of the movement scattered across the 36 states of the federation.
At TBAN, we care about our country deeply and so does every individual who is a member of TBAN as a movement. When we look around us, what we find is hopelessness and the feeling of powerlessness in our fellow citizens. While we are resilient as a people, the way the average Nigerian feels towards our country is more of resignation even as our country continues to get worse. While we believe as a movement that it will require an wholesale leadership change to cause a shift in the trajectory of our nation, we also cannot continue to watch as things get worse, especially seeing that we will have to wait for the next elections in four years’ time.
Are we going to wait for the next four years before we begin to solve these problems, our answer is NO! Are these problems going to disappear if we keep on insisting that we are powerless and cannot take on the huge system? NO! Are foreigners going to see our country and pity us and fix these policies for us? NO! We are the ones we have been waiting for. Our country has to change and it is left to us to change it and repair the dysfunctional system one policy at a time, one community at a time, one demography at a time, one issue at a time.
